The late 19th and early 20th century philosophical tradition centered at Oxford and Cambridge, drawing on Hegel and other German idealist philosophers to develop a distinctively British approach to ethics, metaphysics, and political philosophy. T.H. Green, F.H. Bradley, Bernard Bosanquet, and R.G. Collingwood were among the leading figures. Although British idealism fell out of fashion in the mid-20th century with the rise of analytical philosophy, Michael Oakeshott was trained in this tradition and continued to draw on it throughout his career.
